Hi all, I'm looking for an accessable calendar program. I've tried using outlook but I had problems with it. Are there any calendar program that are accessable? I'm using window-eyes 7.1 and windows xp with sp3 installed. I want a program that is going to let me schedule appoiments, taks, that sort of thing. Any help is welcome. Thanks
There is one I know of, but it is in a package installer and I don't know if you want that or not. I have the entire package installed and it's free, but can pick and choose which programs you want installed. The program is called web-IE, but I'll have to look up the address of the site again. This thing will also install podcatcher aplications, RSS news reader, clock, radio stations and stuff like that and it was made specifically for the blind. Let me know if you'd be interested and I can get the site address.
I'll have to double check, but you might be able to just download and install the calendar part by itself.
Wow! I didn't know WebbIE had a calendar in it. Truly, this is a wonderful program. Not sure how well the browser will work with XP Service Pack 3, since I had a problem using it on my netbook with 3 and IE 7, but the other stuff is fine and makes things totally accessible. This is especially true for those annoying pdf documents. I donno about you guys, but I hate them. Anyway, here's the link.

I also know of several such programs but all are written for DOS. However, all are accessible with a screenreader like VocalEyes or JAWS for DOS, so I'm assuming that you could just use command.com under XP with JFW to use them. You don't need to remember any commands to opperate these programs, since they come with menus etc. There are one or two that I didn't try but I'm sure they work along the same lines. I think the first two are the most suited to what you're seeking.
All of the following programs are accessible and can be downloaded at

Need a message taking program? Here's a speech friendly one with the home/business calendar in it! - From Charlie Crawford
They're running the Window-Eyes speech program though. Will that work with these calendar links you put up?
Also I run Windows XP with SP3 and internet explorer 8 and also have the web-IE program installed and it works fine. Though there are some capitable issues between IE-8 and the current MSN browser systems, but that has nothing to do with web-IE.
I hate PDF documents!
Also on that site there are two versions of the IE program, one for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista and one for earlier Windows versions.
I have no idea about how it works with computers running Dos.
I didn't know that anyone else knew about this. Cool! I really like this program and for all that; it's free!
Yes, WindowEyes should be able to handle the command line, since it's not really DOS. It's just used to run programs like these or to do diagnostics etc. the only thing is, the user will probably have to use review mode to read the screen. Thanks for the cool tips on WebbIE. Maybe, it was just a weird issue I had. I'll be glad to try it out again once my netbook's up and running, though I'll probably be using Service Pack 2 and IE 6 as I like both better than the later additions. As far as I know, there is no IE for DOS, though there are plenty of other browsers, including Barb, one written specifically for the blind on the site I gave. I haven't tried it out but it seems interesting based on the description.
Well, curiosity got the better of me. So I checked Wikipedia and Internet Explorer came out in 1995 with Windows 95 and has never been ported to DOS.
I also found a talking calendar program through the microsoft agent ring, but I'll have to look up the specific address.
the nitro PDF plug in for firefox is great as it allows you to view PDF in your browser as HTML. Also i think microsoft may have stopped supporting MSN explorer which is ps\ possibly why people are having issues with it and XP SP3
